ABOUT US
GLORIE FARM WINERY WAS CONCEIVED out of a love affair between agriculture and wine. We have been growing grapes on our Marlboro hillside farm for home winemakers and many valley wineries for nearly 30 years. At an elevation of 800 feet and with southeastern slopes, our location is considered one of the premier vineyard sites in the Hudson Valley.
Ninety percent of our wine is made from grapes grown on our property. We currently have 10 varieties on trellis in our vineyards and continuously evaluate new and existing cultivars for future plantings. Our tree fruit, brambles and ribes are the sources for our fruit wines. Black currants, members of the ribe family, were banned from propagation in New York State since 1911. The ban was lifted in 2003. Soon after we planted cuttings and reaped our first harvest in 2008. A deep red, sweet-tart wine was produced; just released in May, it quickly captured a Gold Medal.
There really is only one objective at our winery tasting room. We tell our staff if there is only one thing that we achieve with our customers it is that they leave our tasting room having had a positive experience. We strive to provide visitors with a friendly, approachable atmosphere. Over 16 different wines are available for tasting including dry, semi-dry and sweet, red, white, and fruit wines. We have a style for every palate.
The winery and tasting room are housed in a 1913 barn on our 54-acre fruit farm. Visitors can sample wine while viewing an expansive 35-mile panorama of the Hudson Valley below. It is worth the trip just for the view!
Agriculture is a way of life for us. Only 2% of our nation's population is involved in farming, and we are proud members of that group. We use sustainable practices including a solar electric system, installed in 2008, that produces 100% of the electricity used by the winery. It is our hope that 100 years from now this property will still be a farm. We are members of the Shawangunk Wine Trail and Hudson Valley Wine and Grape Association.
