ABOUT THE AWARDS
This past spring, the Hudson Valley wineries submitted their best wine labels to be judged by a panel of professional branding and marketing experts. They were scored on such attributes as originality, style, composition, and legibility in seven different categories. Here are the first, second and third place results tallied from the over one hundred entries by seventeen wineries. Of the twenty winning labels, Benmarl Winery’s Baco Noir Estate Red noteably took first prize in three separate categories.
In addition, a “People’s Choice” competition was held on Hudson Valley Wine Magazine’s Facebook page and at the Shawangunk Trail’s Bounty of Hudson Festival in July. Hundreds of votes were counted with the People’s Choice award going to Hudson-Chatham Winery’s Hudson River Valley Red. Interestingly, the graphics on both the Benmarl and the Hudson-Chatham labels depict the Hudson River!
All winners will be receiving Hudson Valley Wine Magazine’s own “Vini” Award, and many of the submitted labels will be featured on a poster that you’ll see around the region this fall.
Congratulations again to all the winners!
